Just like with direct mail it’s not just the size of the list, but it’s quality too, that matters.
Imagine our company Acme inc sells premises supplies to schools. What would perform better – a big mailing list of personal addresses or a small mailing list of premises managers who’ve shown an interest in buying cleaning fluid.
No contest right? Well it’s exactly the same situation with Twitter. Who cares if you have 20,000 followers if none of them care about you. Rather 200 committed engaged followers any day of the week.
